What is Cryopreservation?
Cryopreservation is the process of freezing and long-term storing biological material (embryos, eggs, and sperm) in liquid nitrogen at −196 °C. This method preserves reproductive cells and embryos for future use without compromising their quality.
Embryo Cryopreservation
During IVF cycles, ovarian stimulation typically produces multiple eggs. After fertilization, several embryos develop, but usually only one or two are transferred per cycle. The remaining viable embryos can be frozen using vitrification—a rapid-freezing method that ensures high survival rates.
